BOOK TOURThe adventure begins !
You will follow the shore of Lake Geneva for 20 kilometers before heading north on Swiss National Route 7. From here there is a steep ascent to the Col de Marchairuz . Once up, you will be riding through flat and austere highland pastures.
You’re now in the Canton of Vaud’s regional “Jurassic Park! You’ll see few people, but lots of dense fir forests, ancient stone fencing and perhaps a few dwellings with signs reading “mountain cheese for sale”.
We’ll then drop down a few hundred meters to Le Brassus. You are now in the famous watch-making region of the “Vallée de Joux” . There are around 6,000 people living in this valley and 85% make their living directly from the craft.
Our overnight is down the road on the pristine Lac de Joux . This is the largest lake in the Swiss Jura and the clear water that you see is supplied by streams running beneath the pastures.
Supper with views of the lake ! Try the local Vacherin Mont d’Or cheese melted over jacket potatoes with white wine !
