These are day-long free bicycle events held all over Switzerland and open to all cyclists.
Roads are closed to motor-traffic, food stands are set up and then thousands of cyclists from the area and beyond come to the designated starting point to ride the Slow-up itinerary. Most of these itineraries are loops and rest-stops and concession stands line the route.
It’s not a race. Participants are encouraged to come out with their families ride at a leisurely pace. The events are meant to promote health, cycling and tourism.
There are 20 different Slow-ups planned for 2018, beginning in April and going on into September.
More information on these Slow-ups can be found on the national website: www.slowup.ch
