Since 2010 the Canton of Geneva has been reimbursing its residents 250 chf when they buy an electric bike.
Although this subsidy has been in effect for a long time, if you’re new to Geneva you may not know about it.
The subsidy is distributed by the commune and in many cases the communes match or double the subsidy !
For example, if you’re a resident of Cologny or Genthod, you’ll receive 250 chf from the Canton and 500 chf from your commune.
You can find a list of communes offering their own subsidy here.
Of course, you should contact your commune before making a purchase to make sure conditions have not changed.
In most cases, you simply have to go to the mairie with your identification and the bill for your bicycle (bought within a year).
Bike Switzerland would like to help you make the purchase even easier by matching the Cantons 250 chf subsidy.
We have a small fleet of electric rental bikes that you might want to try before deciding if it’s right for you.
You’ll see our electric bikes on this page.
And electric trikes here.
