Come this time of year, most of us prefer to trade in our cycling cleats for snowshoes or skis. That said, there are more and more winter cyclists out there.
And with the help of the bicycle industry’s new Fat Bikes, the sport is evolving.
The Swiss alpine town of Gstaad seems to be ahead of the pack.
Although first and foremost a posh ski resort, the tourism bureau in Gstaad is working hard to attract winter cyclists.
The town has its own Snow Bike Festival, hosts Full Moon Bike Tours and permits fat bikes on most of their winter hiking trails.
Maybe you are not sure if you’re up to winter-biking, but would like to give it a try ? Gstaad’s tourism website lists a number of shops that do fat bike rentals.
